Microstructural and Cavitation Erosion Behavior of the CuAlNi Shape Memory Alloy

چکیده

Microstructural and cavitation erosion testing was carried out on Cu-12.8Al-4.1Ni (wt. %) shape memory alloy (SMA) samples produced by continuous casting followed heat treatment consisting of solution annealing at 885 °C for 60 min and, later, water quenching. Cavitation resistance applied using a standard ultrasonic vibratory set up with stationary specimen. Surface changes during the were monitored metallographic analysis an optical microscope (OM), atomic force (AFM), scanning electron (SEM) as well weight measurements. The results revealed martensite microstructure after both Microhardness value higher quenching than in as-cast state. After 420 exposure, negligible mass loss noticed samples. Based obtained results, showed excellent resistance. Mass morphological formed pits indicated better state (L).

finite element analysis of the pseudo-elastic behavior of shape memory alloy truss and beam

the pseudo-elastic behavior of shape memory alloy (sma) truss and cantilever beam are investigated. brinson’s one-dimensional material model, which uses the twinned and detwinned martensite fractions separately as internal variables, is applied in the algorithm to establish the sma stress-strain characteristics. this material model also incorporates different young’s modulus for austenitic and ...

Structure and thermomechanical behavior of NiTiPt shape memory alloy wires.

The objective of this work is to understand the structure-property relationships in polycrystalline NiTiPt (Ti 42.7 at.% Ni 7.5 at %Pt) with a composition showing pseudoelasticity at ambient temperatures. Structural characterization of the alloy includes grain size determination and texture analysis while the thermomechanical properties are explored using tensile testing. Variation in heat trea...

Thermo-mechanical behavior of shape memory alloy made stent- graft by multi-plane model

Constitutive law for shape-memory alloys subjected to multi-axial loading, which is based on a semi-micromechanical integrated multi-plane model capable of internal mechanism observations, is generally not available in the literature. The presented numerical results show significant variations in the mechanical response along the multi loading axes. These are attributed to changes in the marten...

Numerical Analysis of Vascular Stents Exploiting Shape-memory-alloy Behavior

Shape Memory Alloys (SMA) have the unique capability to recover the original shape, once mechanically deformed, through mechanical unloading, Superelastic Effect (SE), or through thermal loading, Shape Memory Effect (SME). These peculiar behaviors, coupled with a good material biocompatibility, have stimulated a wide diffusion of SMA in the area of biomedical devices. In this work we numericall...

Computational studies of shape memory alloy behavior in biomedical applications.

BACKGROUND Nowadays, shape memory alloys (SMAs) and in particular Ni-Ti alloys are commonly used in bioengineering applications as they join important qualities as resistance to corrosion, biocompatibility, fatigue resistance, MR compatibility, kink resistance with two unique thermo-mechanical behaviors: the shape memory effect and the pseudoelastic effect. They allow Ni-Ti devices to undergo l...
